Who We Are

Joy Classic Beauty is an African hair braiding salon located at 904 South Orange Avenue, Newark, New Jersey 07106. This policy explains what information we collect through our website and in the salon, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and mobile phone number. Accounts are managed through Clerk, our authentication provider.

Payment information. Membership subscriptions and appointment payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We retain a reference to your Stripe customer record so we can manage your membership and issue refunds.

Appointment and visit information. We keep records of your bookings, walk-in check-ins, the services you received, and your rewards points balance.

Messages you send us. If you use our contact form or apply for a job, we keep what you submitted so we can respond.

Text Messages (SMS)

We do not share or sell the mobile information of anyone who opts in to our text message program. Your phone number and SMS consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes, and are never sold to lead generators. Phone numbers are shared only with our messaging provider, Twilio, for the sole purpose of delivering the messages described below.

Program name. Joy Classic Beauty Appointment and Queue Notifications.

What messages you will receive. Appointment confirmations, appointment reminders sent roughly 24 hours and 2 hours before your visit, notices if an appointment is cancelled, confirmation of your place in the walk-in queue, and a message when it is your turn in the chair. These are transactional service messages. We do not send marketing or promotional texts through this program.

How you opt in. You opt in by checking the consent box when you check in at the salon, either on the self-service check-in screen or when a staff member checks you in at the front desk. Consent is never assumed and never pre-selected.

Message frequency. Frequency varies based on your visits and bookings. Most clients receive fewer than 10 messages per month.

Cost. Message and data rates may apply. Joy Classic Beauty does not charge for these messages.

Opting out. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving texts. Reply HELP for assistance, or call us at (862) 235-2033. Opting out of texts does not affect your membership, your bookings, or your place in the walk-in queue.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide braiding services, manage your membership and billing, run the walk-in queue, send the service messages described above, respond to your enquiries, and keep records required for running the business.

Who We Share Information With

We share information only with the service providers we need to run the salon: Clerk for accounts and sign-in, Stripe for payments, Twilio for text messages, and Amazon Web Services for hosting and file storage. Each receives only what it needs to perform its function.

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law.

Your Choices

You can update your name, email, and phone number from your account at any time. You can cancel your membership from the member portal. To request a copy of your information or ask us to delete it, contact us using the details below.
